And the award goes to...
The Swedish summer of 2017 has not been particularly impressive, but there are some places that have been better off than others.
One of those places was Hoburg on the southernmost tip of Gotland, according to public broadcaster SVT.
Hoburg recorded 490 hours of sunshine between Midsummer's Eve (June 23rd) and August 11th, and thus won SVT's annual 'Sun League' contest, a summer tradition in the world of Swedish weather news.
Gotland has won the Sun League 11 times since the competition started in 1990. The island is usually represented by Visby, but the weather station in the town had to forfeit this year due to a technical glitch.
However, Hoburg managed to defend Gotland's honour in the final. Well done, Hoburg.
In second place was the northern tip of Öland, Sweden's other Baltic Sea island, with 485 hours of sunshine, followed by Karlskrona in southern Sweden (467 hours of sunshine).
Kiruna in the far north found itself outshone by everyone with only 287 hours of sunshine, despite having the advantage of the midnight sun, when the sun never sets in summer.
Lund in southern Sweden ended up in second-to-last place, with 297 hours of sunshine.
1. Hoburg: 490 hours of sunshine
2. Öland's northernmost tip: 485

Moving to a new country is scary enough. Finding a job in a new country is a completely different ball game.
Swedish working culture differs from other countries; Step away from the desk and take actual coffee breaks (along with cake) is the norm, as well as a relaxed dress code and flexible working hours.
Still, there are things to keep in mind when looking for a job and preparing for the interview. Here are our best tips.
Job Hunt: CV and letter letter
ATo seek a job in a new country is difficult. We'll get it. You should check out the Local Government Agency - it collects all English speaking jobs from different locations for your convenience.
When you find your dream job, customize your resume accordingly. Yes, it was wonderful to volunteer on that farm all year ago, but what does it add to your professional personality? Keep things relevant!
Other features to remember with Swedish CV are that it is common to bring a photo of yourself. You are not required to - but it is often appreciated.
Your next task is your letter. Skip "Dear sir, then and so". Address the person with his or her first name, or not at all; Just dive in with a powerful statement.
Then proceed with explaining your relevant experience, why you like the company, and why you are adapted to the role.
Interview prep
So they like your resume ... points! Now is the interview time.
Do not cheat over the interview, but take it seriously. It's the final obstacle (or two or three) between you and happy employment so you only kick yourself if you do not prep enough!
Examine the company, especially its latest history. Get up with questions. All of this will show an eagerness to learn, but also that you know what you sign up for and you're not just waving.
A big no-number grows up in everyday tools. Yes, Swedish workplaces tend to be quite relaxed in terms of clothing code - even executives will dress in jeans and coaches. But you have not worked yet! Dress up smartly. It gives a good impression and you can always dress more comfortably when you are employed.
Finally, plan your trip before your interview! There is nothing worse than the stress of cutting it well, or actually, running late. Swedes are extremely punctual people - you should really plan to be ten minutes early and just wait for your interview to start.
If you end late, and it is inevitable call ahead and warn them - call at least ten minutes before the scheduled time, but as early as possible.
During the interview (s)
So you have come, you have met the one who will interview you, and the chance is that you have been offered a drink. Take it! Even if there is only water (although there will be coffee).
Swedes like it when you accept their offers. Plus it can give you a few minutes to talk outside the interview, which, if you feel nervous, will surely calm you down. And even if you do not finish your drink, you want to be a "Yes Man" just outside the bat.
When you begin with the interview, treat it as a dialogue. As we said, you have questions and do your research. This way you can turn the interview into a conversation, which is much less scary than answering a number of questions.
Remember to be honest and modest. Americans may be used to "selling" at interviews, but exaggerating all your accomplishments and saying that you are simply the best who does not help you here.
It is likely that there will be a number of interviews of interviews. Consider the appropriate questions to ask in each round. In the first round, you may be wondering what the working culture is, while in the second half (being serious!) Perhaps you want to find out things like the company has a collective agreement - a collective agreement with a trade union.
Preparing for the best: money, money, money
So you got the job? Congratulations!
In some cases you have already discussed salary (maybe in the second or third round of interviews). But sometimes you do not get pay until you have received the offer. However, it's important to be ready with a number.
Fortunately, it is easy to look up suitable salaries for different jobs in Sweden. Check out www.lonestatistik.se, where you can search for job type, county, age and experience level to see what the normal range is.
Be sure of your salary claim, and be prepared to offer reasons why you deserve that salary. Do not be afraid to refer to the market interest rate. Swedes are rational people.
Keep in mind that you will usually land a couple of thousand crowns on your request - so focus on the high end.
Preparing for the worst: unemployment
Now you can be very good at work, and the company you work on may be good. But sometimes it does not always work.

Being late sometimes will not harm you, but chronic latency can be seriously harmful to so many aspects of your life. It can hurt you in interviews, jobs, friendships and more. And since you're just willing to be on time do not work for most chronically late people, we have five steps you can take to improve your skills on time.
1. Find a pattern = First, take one step back. Look at how often you are late for things. Are you always late with 10 minutes or vary? Those who run late at a steady pace are probably late due to a psychological barrier, according to professional organizer and productivity extraordinary Julie Morgenstern. Always being late a similar time is probably an indication of something else you avoid, such as personal time or confronting another aspect of your life, you can push the way - something you might say "do not have time for."
But for those whose late times vary, latency is a chronic issue because it is a "mechanical" cause, so it can be solved through time courses. Once you have identified which one (fixed or variable) you can move forward accordingly.
2. Continue Tracking = Begin to note how long it takes for you to do things. This can be done by writing down every activity you do for a couple of days and about the time it took you to complete each individual. Do this with everything, from how long it takes you to do the essentials to get ready for the length of your commute to work. By tracing each activity separately, you will get a clear idea of how long you can receive this every day. Once you have a true understanding of how to work with tasks, you can start planning how your schedule can change.
3. Remind yourself = Enter reminders, either as an alarm on your phone or computer, which informs you on your phone or via your email address. But instead of just setting an alarm for when you wake up, put an alarm on when you have to be done with breakfast, when you need to be out the door, when you need to catch the train etc. By having an alarm for Each activity, you will be able to keep track of your progress and get a deadline for each activity.
4. Find a little breathing space = Those who are chronically late do not plan to be late, but they do not plan for possible delays, such as a slow train, heavy traffic or even bad weather. All these things can make you late, so when planning things, always add an extra 15-minute pillow. So instead of scheduling just the amount of time you need, add some space to breath by adding extra minutes. When setting up alarms, start 15 minutes earlier, focusing on thinking about this as "on time".
5. Disconnect the plug = Before leaving your house, make sure you do not check anything on your phone except time. Do not open an e-mail that just came in, do not respond quickly to a text, and do not open your podcasts to choose what to listen to on your commute / drive / walk / etc. To reply to an email can be converted to dozens of things are very easy, and it's known that it's time to browse an app, so practice yourself so you do not look at anything on your phone or computer or television before you leave. Any distractions should be left untouched 30 minutes before leaving wherever you are, and may be a good incentive to have some "downtime" if you get there early.
6. Plan ahead = An important feature of early or early people is planning ahead - and not just for the coming hours but for the next day and even the week. This property is also often widespread in less detail, such as planning meals or clothes. By segmenting parts of your routine, it may be easier to understand all day and not feel overloaded by all the "things you need to do." Start small, such as planning what the next day will look like, with rough ideas for the morning, noon and night. Having an idea of what will happen during each part of the day may be easier to handle your day, especially when you feel pressured for the time being. Although this may seem everyday, try it next time you have a hectic day. It is likely that you will find that this helps you to give an idea of where you need to be and when you need to be there. In the end, you unconsciously train yourself to imagine where you need to be and when, which helps you move things around to make it possible to be in real life on time.
People, including me, who keep diversity and inclusion near their hearts cringe when new research is published about the underrepresentation of women and ethnic minorities in the technology industry. Several new studies, including one from the Kapor Center for Social Impact and Harris Poll, have found that sexual harassment, bullying and racist stereotyping are common in the technology industry, which contributes to the so-called "tech-dog".
A young woman, a person of color or a person with disability who reads these things about Silicon Valley is less likely to enter the industry or be long enough to contribute if they do. To dispel the negative does not, however, make the change within the industry as we all wish. We need to focus on actions we can take today to change this environment.
So, let's start with the positive. We know that companies are much more successful and innovative when using different talents. In fact, lack of diversity keeps organizations back from utilizing all available resources for innovation and growth. A recent McKinsey study showed that companies in the top quartile for racial and ethnic diversity are 35 percent more likely to receive returns over their respective national industry media. A 2015 study by Bersin of Deloitte showed that different companies had 2.3 times higher cash flow per employee over a three-year period than non-diversified companies.
While moving the needle into the workplace's diversity is not a small achievement, conversion of technologies to lifelong employees should be a strategic goal for all organizations. A versatile staffing force enables a company to renew, understand its customers and maximize employee productivity - all critical problems for the technology industry.
Here are three ways your business can improve diversity and integration efforts - and avoid "tech leaver" syndrome:
1. Download C-Suite Purchases.
Organizations need business executives who accept and master the idea of embracing diversity and integration efforts will create corporate returns on investment. Statistics show, diversity can increase economic development by as much as 2.2 times for profitability and twice asset valuation. In order to get this purchase it is important to show how diversity and inclusion save money and increase revenue while highlighting the long-term value of these initiatives.
For SAP, diversity and integration efforts begin at the top. Diversity and inclusion are part of our strategy for the future. These topics are regularly discussed in executive and board meetings with HR management at the Board. This is crucial in shaping the organization's culture and being real advocates for employees.
2. Return to the HR basics.
The biggest obstacle to diversity and inclusion is often not proof of their value without resistance to change - both consciously and unconsciously. In order to counter the bias headline, organizations need to rethink their processes and reform how they recruit, interview and employ candidates. Organizations must work to identify, identify and eliminate prejudices to take advantage of a versatile and inclusive workplace.
Think of a job post for a candidate who needs to be "politically skilled", "aggressive" and "self-adhesive". These words may not be reasoned with female candidates and therefore the response to the listing is likely to be highly favored for male candidates. Studies show that men apply for jobs when they feel 60-80 percent qualified for the position, while women are looking for jobs when they feel 100-120 percent qualified for the position.
True digital leaders use technology to identify and eliminate advanced languages in tasks, ensure that underrepresented colleagues have a voice and create opportunities at all levels of the organization for a more inclusive, innovative and flawless work environment.
3. Do not focus on diversity, embracing inclusion.
Many companies focus heavily on diversity in terms of statistics, but the better way to ensure a truly free-of-charge gender-based effort is to focus on integration. Inclusion calls for participation from all, and underpins a versatile workforce. Employees respected, regardless of their background, will be confident in sharing their perspectives authentically.
Inclusion is important in the efforts we personally make to embrace all groups, every day. Recently I was in Japan where I studied local customs and learned that it was appropriate to bend instead of shaking hands. My Japanese hosts, however, reflected Western customs. As I bent, they reached a handshake. The greeting may have looked unpleasant but we made every effort to embrace the other's custom. The interaction showed that it's basically not just about how to lead, but how to act every day.
To encourage integration and teamwork within your organization, organize group lunches or host conference calls to discuss common professional experiences, share best practices and build relationships. These will help to create a stronger sense of society.
The way to greater diversity and integration is not easy, but an inclusive environment attracts more applicants to your business and enhances your existing employees' experience. Happy employees are more productive and committed and less likely to become "technicians". Given the importance of innovation for the technology industry, it should aim to promote the most inclusive cultures - do not drive people away. By receiving purchases from the top using technology to meet unconscious confidentiality and embrace inclusion, we can encourage an industry where all people can enjoy themselves!
If you want to promote your name and business online, you must start by building your personal brand. You must start thinking about yourself and your name as a brand. If you start there, everything else is easy.
How do I know? I have spent years building my own brand, and I'll show you how to do it.
1. Make a small preliminary examination.= Before you can build a positive personal profile online yourself, you need to know what's already out there about you. Did you write an average ed-ed at college that has now made it Google's cache? Do you have any unpleasant images that float out there on the World Wide Web?
Ställ in Google-varningar med ditt namn.
2. Get a website = If you are going to make a name for your brand online, you will need a site where your audience can visit so that they can learn more about you. So, get a personal website with an "About Me" page. There are lots of tools that you can use and sites you can visit to help you build your own site. Some of them are free. Some are paid, but remember, you get what you pay for.
If you want your site to be dynamic and professional, make sure you allocate enough time, effort (and even money) into it. Use high resolution images of yourself and keep your copy short and engaging.
3. Think about your audience = Who are you trying now? This is called your target audience. If I've learned something in my marketing years, you must define your audience early. Are you trying to target people to your personal website so that they can learn something from you? What do you offer them?
By answering these questions, you will be able to get a better picture of your audience, and this will guide you on how to communicate with them on your website and on social media.
4. Make friends with influential people online = Influencers are some of your best assets when building your personal brand. Over the years I've met friends online that have a big audience in my industry. By building these relationships, my influences are more willing to share or retweet my social posts to their audience.
If you get free exposure to an audience you're already trying to target, it's a win-win for both parties. Try this technique to see if it works for you. If you have the right influences in your circle, you get more traffic to your site and more engagement in your social posts.
5. The more people you meet the better = When you build a personal brand, the people you know can help you promote yourself. You can not limit these relationships to online. Perhaps you will reach out to some influencers online, and it is perfectly acceptable. I do it all the time, and it is worthwhile to see these friendships. But you must also do everything you can to meet influencers in other ways. Go to local events related to your industry. Networking on happy hours. Tell everyone what you do everywhere you go, from the waiter at your favorite restaurant to the people you sit next to in the church. Expand your circles - and your personal brand - simply by being present with others.
6. Were you and only you. = I offer you this advice because I learned the difficult way. When you build a personal brand, you want to put your best face forward. But you do not want to create an online presence that is not true to who you really are. Social users are knowledgeable about honesty - and they can tell when marketers are not vulnerable and genuine. So make sure you submit an honest profile for who you are. When you do, you will easily build trust.
7. Capture information = Once you have started building a relationship with your online audience, it will be time to collect any of their information. This is useful when building an email list, so you can communicate more directly with your audience. You can test this using creative ways. For example, once you have proven yourself as an established trusted voice that offers valuable content, you can ask your audience to sign up for your monthly newsletter. You can also create videos to share your brand story. Incentivize this by offering a free giveaway or running a competition to create excitement around free prices. Make fun for your audience to participate.
It may feel overwhelming as you start building your personal brand. But it takes less than a week to try these tips. It's easy to try a new strategy, and it will not be long before you have a good audience listening to you and looking for advice. It's a personal brand.
