The Guide to Work in Sweden: From Job Hunt to Wage Negotiations

And the award goes to...

The Swedish summer of 2017 has not been particularly impressive, but there are some places that have been better off than others.

One of those places was Hoburg on the southernmost tip of Gotland, according to public broadcaster SVT.

Hoburg recorded 490 hours of sunshine between Midsummer's Eve (June 23rd) and August 11th, and thus won SVT's annual 'Sun League' contest, a summer tradition in the world of Swedish weather news.

Gotland has won the Sun League 11 times since the competition started in 1990. The island is usually represented by Visby, but the weather station in the town had to forfeit this year due to a technical glitch.

However, Hoburg managed to defend Gotland's honour in the final. Well done, Hoburg.

In second place was the northern tip of Öland, Sweden's other Baltic Sea island, with 485 hours of sunshine, followed by Karlskrona in southern Sweden (467 hours of sunshine).

Kiruna in the far north found itself outshone by everyone with only 287 hours of sunshine, despite having the advantage of the midnight sun, when the sun never sets in summer.

Lund in southern Sweden ended up in second-to-last place, with 297 hours of sunshine.

Swedish working culture differs from other countries; Step away from the desk and take actual coffee breaks (along with cake) is the norm, as well as a relaxed dress code and flexible working hours.
Still, there are things to keep in mind when looking for a job and preparing for the interview. Here are our best tips.
Job Hunt: CV and letter letter
ATo seek a job in a new country is difficult. We'll get it. You should check out the Local Government Agency - it collects all English speaking jobs from different locations for your convenience.
When you find your dream job, customize your resume accordingly. Yes, it was wonderful to volunteer on that farm all year ago, but what does it add to your professional personality? Keep things relevant!
Other features to remember with Swedish CV are that it is common to bring a photo of yourself. You are not required to - but it is often appreciated.
Your next task is your letter. Skip "Dear sir, then and so". Address the person with his or her first name, or not at all; Just dive in with a powerful statement.
Then proceed with explaining your relevant experience, why you like the company, and why you are adapted to the role.
Interview prep
So they like your resume ... points! Now is the interview time.
Do not cheat over the interview, but take it seriously. It's the final obstacle (or two or three) between you and happy employment so you only kick yourself if you do not prep enough!
Examine the company, especially its latest history. Get up with questions. All of this will show an eagerness to learn, but also that you know what you sign up for and you're not just waving.
A big no-number grows up in everyday tools. Yes, Swedish workplaces tend to be quite relaxed in terms of clothing code - even executives will dress in jeans and coaches. But you have not worked yet! Dress up smartly. It gives a good impression and you can always dress more comfortably when you are employed.
Finally, plan your trip before your interview! There is nothing worse than the stress of cutting it well, or actually, running late. Swedes are extremely punctual people - you should really plan to be ten minutes early and just wait for your interview to start.
If you end late, and it is inevitable call ahead and warn them - call at least ten minutes before the scheduled time, but as early as possible.
During the interview (s)
So you have come, you have met the one who will interview you, and the chance is that you have been offered a drink. Take it! Even if there is only water (although there will be coffee).
Swedes like it when you accept their offers. Plus it can give you a few minutes to talk outside the interview, which, if you feel nervous, will surely calm you down. And even if you do not finish your drink, you want to be a "Yes Man" just outside the bat.
When you begin with the interview, treat it as a dialogue. As we said, you have questions and do your research. This way you can turn the interview into a conversation, which is much less scary than answering a number of questions.
Remember to be honest and modest. Americans may be used to "selling" at interviews, but exaggerating all your accomplishments and saying that you are simply the best who does not help you here.
It is likely that there will be a number of interviews of interviews. Consider the appropriate questions to ask in each round. Preparing for the worst: unemployment
Now you can be very good at work, and the company you work on may be good. But sometimes it does not always work.

KEO Delivers design and surveillance services to Expo Village

The project management company KEO International Consultants will provide design and construction supervision for Expo Village, where housing development is being developed by Dubai World Trade Center, which will host visitors and participants to Expo 2020.

It will also include amenitized retail and community facilities that include a school, day care center and a healthcare facility.

This development is adjacent to the Expo 2020 destination and consists of 11 sites, each with podium parking and buildings, which will be delivered in two phases. It will be reliably linked to the modern expansion of Dubai Metro's Red Line Service Expo 2020. Expo Village will be designed to achieve LEED Gold certification.

6 Tips to Exercise yourself

Being late sometimes will not harm you, but chronic latency can be seriously harmful to so many aspects of your life. It can hurt you in interviews, jobs, friendships and more. And since you're just willing to be on time do not work for most chronically late people, we have five steps you can take to improve your skills on time.

1. Find a pattern = First, take one step back. Look at how often you are late for things. Are you always late with 10 minutes or vary? By tracing each activity separately, you will get a clear idea of how long you can receive this every day. Once you have a true understanding of how to work with tasks, you can start planning how your schedule can change.

3. Remind yourself = Enter reminders, either as an alarm on your phone or computer, which informs you on your phone or via your email address. But instead of just setting an alarm for when you wake up, put an alarm on when you have to be done with breakfast, when you need to be out the door, when you need to catch the train etc. By having an alarm for Each activity, you will be able to keep track of your progress and get a deadline for each activity.

4. Find a little breathing space = Those who are chronically late do not plan to be late, but they do not plan for possible delays, such as a slow train, heavy traffic or even bad weather. All these things can make you late, so when planning things, always add an extra 15-minute pillow. 3 ways to build a varied team of lifelong employees

People, including me, who keep diversity and inclusion near their hearts cringe when new research is published about the underrepresentation of women and ethnic minorities in the technology industry. Several new studies, including one from the Kapor Center for Social Impact and Harris Poll, have found that sexual harassment, bullying and racist stereotyping are common in the technology industry, which contributes to the so-called "tech-dog".

A young woman, a person of color or a person with disability who reads these things about Silicon Valley is less likely to enter the industry or be long enough to contribute if they do. Inclusion calls for participation from all, and underpins a versatile workforce. Employees respected, regardless of their background, will be confident in sharing their perspectives authentically.

Inclusion is important in the efforts we personally make to embrace all groups, every day. Recently I was in Japan where I studied local customs and learned that it was appropriate to bend instead of shaking hands. My Japanese hosts, however, reflected Western customs. As I bent, they reached a handshake. The greeting may have looked unpleasant but we made every effort to embrace the other's custom. The interaction showed that it's basically not just about how to lead, but how to act every day.

To encourage integration and teamwork within your organization, organize group lunches or host conference calls to discuss common professional experiences, share best practices and build relationships. These will help to create a stronger sense of society.

The way to greater diversity and integration is not easy, but an inclusive environment attracts more applicants to your business and enhances your existing employees' experience. Happy employees are more productive and committed and less likely to become "technicians". Given the importance of innovation for the technology industry, it should aim to promote the most inclusive cultures - do not drive people away. By receiving purchases from the top using technology to meet unconscious confidentiality and embrace inclusion, we can encourage an industry where all people can enjoy themselves!

7 ways to grow your personal brand in less than a week

If you want to promote your name and business online, you must start by building your personal brand. You must start thinking about yourself and your name as a brand. If you start there, everything else is easy.

How do I know? I have spent years building my own brand, and I'll show you how to do it.

1. Make a small preliminary examination.= Before you can build a positive personal profile online yourself, you need to know what's already out there about you. Did you write an average ed-ed at college that has now made it Google's cache? Do you have any unpleasant images that float out there on the World Wide Web?

4. Make friends with influential people online = Influencers are some of your best assets when building your personal brand. Over the years I've met friends online that have a big audience in my industry. By building these relationships, my influences are more willing to share or retweet my social posts to their audience.
If you get free exposure to an audience you're already trying to target, it's a win-win for both parties. Try this technique to see if it works for you. If you have the right influences in your circle, you get more traffic to your site and more engagement in your social posts.

5. The more people you meet the better = When you build a personal brand, the people you know can help you promote yourself. You can not limit these relationships to online. Perhaps you will reach out to some influencers online, and it is perfectly acceptable. I do it all the time, and it is worthwhile to see these friendships. But you must also do everything you can to meet influencers in other ways. Go to local events related to your industry. Networking on happy hours. Tell everyone what you do everywhere you go, from the waiter at your favorite restaurant to the people you sit next to in the church. Expand your circles - and your personal brand - simply by being present with others.

6. Were you and only you. = I offer you this advice because I learned the difficult way. When you build a personal brand, you want to put your best face forward. But you do not want to create an online presence that is not true to who you really are. Social users are knowledgeable about honesty - and they can tell when marketers are not vulnerable and genuine. So make sure you submit an honest profile for who you are. When you do, you will easily build trust.

7. Capture information = Once you have started building a relationship with your online audience, it will be time to collect any of their information. This is useful when building an email list, so you can communicate more directly with your audience. You can test this using creative ways. For example, once you have proven yourself as an established trusted voice that offers valuable content, you can ask your audience to sign up for your monthly newsletter. You can also create videos to share your brand story. Incentivize this by offering a free giveaway or running a competition to create excitement around free prices. Make fun for your audience to participate.

It may feel overwhelming as you start building your personal brand. But it takes less than a week to try these tips. It's easy to try a new strategy, and it will not be long before you have a good audience listening to you and looking for advice. It's a personal brand.
